Nissan Patrol Export from Dubai: Safari, V8 or New Generation and the Rules at Your Port
Nissan Patrol export from Dubai explained: the Safari, the 2010 to 2024 V8 generation and the new 2025 Patrol, how engine size changes duty in Nigeria and Ghana, and the checks before your Patrol ships.

Nissan has built the Patrol since 1951, and its seventh generation was unveiled in Abu Dhabi on 3 September 2024, as the Nissan Abu Dhabi launch release records. The UAE is one of the easiest places to buy one: on 14 October 2026 our own inventory listed about 1,550 Patrols, from older Safari hardtops to 0 km 2026 models. This guide to Nissan Patrol export from Dubai explains the three Patrol families you will find, how engine size changes the duty bill at your port and the checks that matter before the car sails for Tema, Lagos or Abidjan.
For most buyers, the decision comes down to three families. The Patrol Safari is the simplest design, the 2010 to 2024 generation offers a V8 or V6 at a lower price, and the new generation sold since 2025 is the most modern. All of them export through the same paperwork, so your budget and your country's import rules decide the rest.
The three Patrol families in Dubai stock#
| Family | Model years in our stock | Engines on our listings | Roughly how many we list |
|---|---|---|---|
| Patrol Safari and Super Safari | Mostly 2016 to 2024 | 4.8 litre six cylinder petrol | About 180 |
| Patrol, 2010 to 2024 generation | Mostly 2012 to 2024 | 4.0 litre V6 (XE grade) or 5.6 litre V8 petrol | About 720 |
| Patrol, new generation | 2025 and newer, mostly 0 km | 3.8 litre V6 or 3.5 litre twin turbo V6 petrol | About 650 |

Nissan rates the new 3.5 litre twin turbo V6 at 425 HP and 700 Nm and the 3.8 litre V6 at 316 HP and 386 Nm, according to the launch release. Every Patrol in our current stock runs on petrol, so buyers who need a diesel fleet vehicle should look at a diesel alternative such as a Toyota Prado.
Trim names matter more than the badge. Grades such as XE, SE, LE, Titanium, Platinum, NISMO and PRO 4X change the engine and equipment, so read the exact grade and engine size on each listing. You can filter every current unit on our Nissan Patrol inventory page.

Safari, V8 or the new generation: which fits your roads#
The Patrol Safari is the older, simpler design, sold as a hardtop or a wagon. Buyers who drive long rural distances often choose it for that simpler design and its four wheel drive. A 2024 Patrol Super Safari is a typical example in our stock.
The 2010 to 2024 generation is the large, comfortable Patrol most African buyers picture, and used units keep the budget lower than a new car. This 2024 Patrol LE Platinum City with the 5.6 litre V8 shows the top grade of that generation.
The new generation brings a turbocharged V6, more technology and almost new condition, such as this 2026 Patrol LE Platinum City 3.5 litre. It costs more, and it suits buyers who live within reach of a workshop that can service a modern turbocharged engine.
How engine size changes the bill at your port#
A Patrol always has a large engine, and several West African markets tax that. Plan the duty before you choose a model year, because the cheapest Patrol in Dubai is not always the cheapest one to clear.
| Destination | Engine and age rules that affect a Patrol |
|---|---|
| Nigeria (Lagos) | Green surcharge of 2 percent of CIF for 2.0 to 3.9 litres, 4 percent for 4.0 litres and above; 12 year age rule |
| Ghana (Tema) | Duty band set by engine size and fuel; overage penalty after 10 years; used cars over 15 years refused if shipped from 1 October 2026 |
| Côte d'Ivoire (Abidjan) | Used cars must be no more than five years old |
On Nigeria's surcharge, a new generation 3.5 or 3.8 litre Patrol falls in the 2 percent band, while the 4.0 litre XE, the 4.8 litre Safari and the 5.6 litre V8 pay 4 percent. Our Nigeria import guide runs the full duty stack with a worked example.
For Ghana, the Ghana car import duty guide shows how the engine band and the age penalty are worked out, and the duty itself is assessed by the Ghana Revenue Authority on arrival.
How Nissan Patrol export from Dubai works#

- Choose and reserve. Pick the Patrol and confirm grade, engine, steering side and VIN on the listing.
- Inspect and pay. Match the VIN on the car to the paperwork before money moves, and ask for photos of anything that worries you.
- Export paperwork. The UAE registration is cancelled through the RTA export certificate and the customs export file is prepared.
- Ghana Certificate of Conformance. For Tema, our agent arranges the certificate before the car sails.
- Ship. The Patrol travels RoRo or in a container from Jebel Ali, as described on our UAE to Africa shipping page. Freight is quoted per car, because a full size SUV takes more space than a saloon.
- Clear and collect. Your clearing agent files the import entry and pays duty before release.
Marine insurance is optional. Our insurance rates start from 1.0 percent of the insured value for Total Loss Only and 1.75 percent for All Risk Marine.
Checks before you pay for a Patrol#
- Grade and engine. A 4.0 litre XE and a 5.6 litre LE look alike from the outside, so check the engine size, not just the body.
- Mileage and use. Many Gulf Patrols are used for desert driving. On used cars, ask about sand driving, look under the body and test the four wheel drive.
- Condition history. Ghana refuses flood damaged, fire damaged and chassis damaged cars shipped from 1 October 2026, so ask directly.
- Listing price. Our team is still correcting some listing prices. If a Patrol looks far cheaper than similar units, ask us before you pay, because it is usually a data error rather than a bargain.
Frequently asked questions#
How much does it cost to export a car from the UAE?#
The government side is small: the RTA vehicle export certificate costs AED 70 for a light vehicle, or AED 140 with export plates. Freight, optional insurance and destination duty make up most of the total, as our cost to export a car from Dubai breakdown explains line by line.
Why does the UAE love Nissan Patrol?#
The Patrol has been sold in the Gulf for decades, and its size, power and four wheel drive suit desert driving and long family trips. Nissan chose Abu Dhabi for the global unveiling of the seventh generation in 2024, as its launch release notes, which shows how important the region is to the model.
Is Nissan Patrol available in the UAE?#
Yes. The new Patrol is sold through Nissan's UAE dealers, as the Nissan Dubai Patrol page shows, and the used market is large. That depth is why Dubai is one of the easiest places to source a left hand drive Patrol for export.
In which countries is the Nissan Patrol available?#
Nissan sells the Patrol in the Gulf and in several other regions, and used GCC units travel much further through export. From Dubai we ship Patrols to left hand drive markets such as Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Togo and Benin; our Nigeria import guide covers the busiest of those routes.
What year patrols to avoid?#
Rather than one model year, avoid any Patrol older than your country's age limit and any car with flood, fire or chassis damage. For Ghana, the GSA vehicle import FAQs refuse used vehicles over 15 years old shipped from 1 October 2026, while Côte d'Ivoire allows only cars up to five years old.
